About Tim’s teaching
Tim’s teaching style aims to develop well-rounded musicianship: learning by ear as well as reading music, building stylistically-appropriate musical vocabulary, and developing good technique to facilitate musical expression.
Tim has over 10 years of experience teaching private lessons and leading group classes. He currently serves as the String Ensembles teacher at the Ithaca Waldorf School and as a Visiting Lecturer at Cornell University.
In the past, Tim has taught on the faculty of the Kanack School of Music in Rochester, NY. He regularly teaches at the Kanack School Fiddle Camp and the Ithaca Suzuki Institute.
Tim has completed Suzuki violin teacher training for books 1 and 2, and received training in the Creative Ability Development method of improvisation from its founder, Alice Kanack, and Dr. Sera Smolen.
